Shawn Rodgers and Jonathan Goldstein of Goldstein Law Partners represent the plaintiff, a former instructional support coach with Children’ Literacy Initiative (CLI), in a lawsuit against her former employer for racial discrimination and retaliation in violation of Title VII.  CLI is a contractor of Philadelphia School District, responsible for providing support to the District’s struggling and underprivileged schools.  Last year, the plaintiff voiced her concerns about the systemic racism that she observed at CLI, both with regard to CLI’s treatment of employees and students alike.  The plaintiff was one of CLI’s few black instructional coaches, notable for an organization serving a majority black community.  CLI increased its discriminatory practices and mistreatment of the plaintiff, ultimately terminating her employment.  The matter is currently pending in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
